Subject | Critical Reflection |
A critical reflection is not about ‘liking’ or ‘not liking’ the assigned reading. It is about assessing the subject matter and the main arguments the author has made in the reading. A good reflection ought to include (but is not limited to) any one or more of the following:
(a) appraising the extent to which the author has (or has not) persuasively substantiated the argument;
(b) identifying new directions opened up by the reading;
(c) challenging or supporting the author’s methods;
(d) identifying interesting points raised by the reading;
(e) highlighting connections between the reading and other course readings or themes.
You are allowed to utilise resources outside the assigned readings to substantiate your opinions and claims. This is an academic assignment so please make sure to reference the resources you have used. Failure to do so can constitute plagiarism.
