Seminarium in Latin means ”plant school”. Educational institutions in Rome were also referred to by the same name. Wilhelm von Humboldt, while developing his concept of modern Universities in Germany, thought that research helped in building character.

Universities, for him, were a place to build personalities and not just fill students with knowledge and skills. The aim of the Seminar is to guide students to carry out self-study with research through literature and dispute or support a case presented in the literature. It has various adaptations and is used in High Schools and Universities in form of an Independent Study Project. We will be using the word Seminar in that sense in this module.

The objective of the module and this assessment is to, in the sense of Humboldt, help develop independent critical thinkers and not just knowledge collectors. In a fast-changing area of Electric Vehicles, the technology will change by the time you graduate. Hence, it is better to equip ourselves with a process of learning that will help us for a long time.
