Heavy, High Hazard Manufacturing Company
The organization is a factory located in Mid Wales and is part of a global company. It produces a range of high hazard products, although its focus on the safety of the materials and products means it is a low-risk facility. The site has been operational since the mid-1900s, although considerably reduced in scale now. There are approximately 700 permanent and contractor employees on site. It is currently undergoing a five year, £48million investment program due to complete in 2017, including improvements to the environment, plant, and welfare facilities.
The focus upon the management of high hazard safety is evident; through security, storage of hazardous materials, work area segregation for containment and mitigation of potential fire or accidental emissions, and the thorough implementation of emergency planning procedures. The company exhibits its commitment by adopting the policy, ‘No Task More Important than Health and Safety’, aiming to achieve zero incidents by 2018 and working to a management system complying with OHSAS18001 requirements.
