Develop an implementation plan for your project. Select two topic areas that you identify as essential for project success. Critically analyse the management of the project by applying relevant project management theories, concepts, and methods related to each chosen topic. Based on your analysis, provide actionable recommendations and guidelines for successful implementation of your project plan.

This report and reflection aim to assist you in facilitating the project planning meeting, convincing the project team of the value of your recommendations, and encouraging them to use AI technologies responsibly and ethically to enhance project performance.

Part A: Report

Your 2,500-word written implementation plan should address the following components:

1. Project objectives and deliverables

Based on the scope you have defined in Assessment 1:

develop a detailed list of project objectives and a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) diagram. Your objectives and WBS should serve as an adequate basis for developing project plans appropriate for the topics you select in the next step.

2. Implementation areas

Identify two key topic areas from the list below that are most critical to the successful implementation of the project.

Justify your selection by considering the context of your project and insights from similar projects’ success/failures. You may use insights from Activity 1.3: Project success and failure factors using GenAI and/or your own project industry experiences to inform and support your choices.

You must choose one topic from List A and one topic from List B:

Your first topic should be one of the following (List A)

• Project estimation and scheduling (topic area 1)
• Project performance monitoring and control (topic area 2)

Your second topic should be one of the following (List B)

• Project closing and benefits realisation (topic area 3)
• Project risk and opportunity management (topic area 4)
• Project team management and leadership (topic area 5)

3. Critical analysis

Using relevant project management theories, concepts and methods:

• Critically analyse and evaluate how you will manage the project across its stages in relation to the two topic areas.
• Identify key issues and challenges in project implementation and potential strategies to address them.

4. Recommendations

• Provide one recommendation for each topic area, justified by your analysis.
• Each recommendation should be practical, actionable and aligned to the project purpose and objectives.
• Recommendations should be supported with actionable artifacts and implementation guidelines tailored to the specific nature of the project. Refer to the assessment planning section for a list of artifact examples.

Part B: 500-word Reflection

Critically reflect on the project report you have developed and respond to the following. Your reflection should be strongly linked to the insights gained in your report.

5. AI Applications

Consider the complexity and degree of human intervention in specific project tasks discussed in your report. Identify one AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology application that could enhance the productivity of your project. Explain how you would integrate it into the project management practices of your project.

6. AI Ethical considerations

• Consider the AI application you proposed in task 5 above, and identify one critical ethical issue that may arise when integrating this AI technology into your project. Explain how you would prepare for and address this issue practice.
• This assessment requires you to use a minimum of eight (8) relevant and credible academic sources in addition to your textbook.
  – You may also use current company, industry, government and media sources to support your statements, but these will NOT count toward the minimum required credible academic sources for your assessment.
  – Most web-based sources are not sufficiently rigorous and credible for use in academic assessments and will NOT count toward the minimum required credible academic sources for your assessment.
  – For further guidance, refer to Scholarly, academic & peer-reviewed journals.

• You must appropriately acknowledge all sources of information in your assessment following the AIB Style Guide. This includes the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT. See relevant sections on ‘Academic Integrity’, ‘Generative Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Referencing’ in the AIB Style Guide and Academic Policies and Procedures.
• You may need to complete an Organisation consent form (.docx) if you want to use your organisation’s data that is not in the public domain. An authorised member of the organisation must complete this form and this should be included as an appendix within your assessment submission.

Feedback from Previous Assessment

This was a good start to your presentation, in need of a few points of polish to really shine.  For one opportunity for improvement: the Slides should be in full screen mode.  Additionally – you omitted to show your reference slide, which reduces your ability to gain marks for that area.

You were clear regarding the scope and objectives for the project. This could have been substantiated to a greater extent through use of sources from your organisation’s strategic suite, website or other material.   You did well in pointing to items that would be excluded from the project.

Stakeholder analysis was somewhat shallow, we were looking for a detailed Stakeholder register, with the Influence/Impact rating for each stakeholder or group of stakeholders, which would then build a compelling case for the project priorities.

More detail was also needed in the Success Criteria, and use of the Shenhar model would have helped you here.  This should be completed for Assessment 2 otherwise you will find it challenging to fully justify your choice of topics.

There are some areas in this presentation that did not need to be looked at – e.g. Risks, and that time could have been directed towards deeper analysis.

The choice of Hybrid for the Project Management approach again was a good start, but more detail and greater use of sources to support was needed.

Please ensure you more effectively utilize the tables and diagrams taught in this subject, such as the power-interest grid, stakeholder analysis template, project priority matrix, Shenahr’s success criteria model etc. to improve both presentation and analysis.

Also note that the use of effective diagrams and tables will be even more important in your final assessment, so I hope you can take this feedback into A2.

All in all, a solid start – some refining to your approach will help in future presentations.
