1. Margaret is a 35-year-old woman who is married without children. Margaret works on a full-time basis. Margaret is overweight with a BMI of about 35. She has been obese from about the age of 21. She has tried dieting in the past, which works for a while. However, it has been Margaret’s experience that she tends to put on weight again after a period of dieting. As a friend, Margaret asks you to help her understand the psychological factors (as noted in week 3) associated with obesity.

2. Mark is a 35-year-old man who is married without children. Mark works on a full-time basis. Mark has a drinking problem. In general, he typically consumes 4 standard drinks six days a week. He finds that a drink at the end of the day really helps him unwind. Mark is also drinking quite a lot socially because he is sure that he will have more fun with friends after a few drinks. As a friend, Mark wants you to help him understand the psychological factors (as noted in week 4) associated with problem drinking.

3. Midge is a 35-year-old woman who is married without children. Midge works on a full-time basis. But Midge has a sleeping problem. She has great difficulty getting off to sleep. Midge has been falling asleep at work and is worried that she might lose his job if she doesn’t find ways to help her get to sleep. Midge is really worried about what might happen on days when she doesn’t get a good night’s sleep. Midge wants to understand the psychological factors (as described in week 5) that might be stopping her from getting off to sleep
